The apartment on Klobučnícka Street is located in a Neo-Baroque tenement house built in 1893 according to a design by Henrich Szant. Over time, a room from a neighboring large apartment was added to the originally one-room space without major construction modifications. The apartment is oriented to the inner courtyard of an apartment building, accessible from the gallery. Due to its location in the building, it is not sufficiently illuminated.
The design is based on the original layout, we increase the living space by removing and moving one partition to a new position. Instead of a classic masonry partition we insert a light transparent wall made of fiberglass, the tectonics of which is based on the original opposite partition. We return the apartment to the old town spirit by creating an axial enfilade in a cross view of the entire space. The inserted partitions are translucent to naturally illuminate the entire depth of the apartment, but at the same time they function as a lighting device. The interior itself is built on solitary furniture, which underlines the visual cleanliness and flexibility of the space.
